Sarah advises employers on Canadian business immigration law, assisting clients to strategize their immigration and employment needs in Canada while navigating complex immigration regulations and processes. She is experienced in preparing Labour Market Impact Assessments, Work Permit Applications and Permanent Residence Applications under various provincial nominee programs and the Atlantic Immigration Program. Sarah also advises employers on compliance obligations and has assisted with immigration audit inspections. Of interest to Nova Scotia employers, she has experience in advising employers on Nova Scotia foreign worker licensing requirements.
In addition to her immigration practice, Sarah also assists employers in all areas of labour and employment law including workplace investigations, discipline and discharge, wrongful dismissal claims and grievance arbitration.
Prior to joining Mathews Dinsdale, Sarah practiced with an Atlantic Canada regional firm.

Nova Scotia Introduces Legislation Providing New Leaves and Workplace Harassment Obligations
Move over pumpkin spice there’s a new season in town, for Nova Scotia employers at least. On September 5, 2024, the Nova Scotia Government introduced Bill No. 464, Stronger Workplaces for Nova Scotia Act, which proposes significant amendments to the Labour Standards Code (the “Code”), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (the “OHSA”) and the Workers’ Compensation Act. The Bill has passed second reading and is currently before the Law Amendments Committee.
