Ontario to Increase Minimum Wage, Effective October 1, 2024

On October 1, 2024 the minimum wage in Ontario will be increasing from $16.55 to $17.20 per hour, representing an approximate 3.9% increase.

Ontario’s new minimum wage will be the second-highest provincial rate, following British Columbia.

This wage increase follows the passage of the Working for Workers Four Act, 2023 (see our previous coverage on the legislative amendments to various workplace laws creating further protections for workers in Ontario and further obligations for employers by clicking here).
