Ontario Announces Safety Guidelines for Employers for the Gradual Re-Opening of the Economy

In anticipation of the gradual re-opening of the economy, the Province of Ontario, in conjunction with four provincial health and safety associations, released safety guidelines for employers such that work can be conducted safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The newly released guidelines are focused on the following sectors:

  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • Auto
  • Transportation
  • Agriculture
  • Utilities
  • Health Care
  • Office
  • Transit
  • Police Services
  • Fire Services
  • Mining
  • Forestry
  • Retail
  • Food Retail
  • Funeral
  • Hospitality
  • Film / TV
  • Tourism

The safety guidelines pertaining to each sector can be found here

The guidance varies for each sector and includes, but is not limited to, recommendations with respect to workplace hygiene, physical distancing, sanitation, and procedures if employees are ill.  Employers should consult the relevant guidance related to the sector it is operating in.
