Paid Leave Now the Law in B.C.

Bill 13 – the Employment Standards Amendment Act (No. 2), 2021 received Royal Assent and is now law in B.C. Bill 13 requires employers to provide paid COVID-19-related leave to eligible employees, for up to a maximum of 3 days.

B.C. Introduces COVID-19-related Paid Leave

When passed, Bill 13 will temporarily amend the ESA such that employers will be obligated to provide paid COVID-19-related leave to eligible employees, for up to a maximum of three days, if the employee qualifies for the leave.
