Profile

While at law school, Jakob completed a term working at the University’s Indigenous Community Legal Clinic and was a member of the Indigenous Law Students Association.

Prior to attending law school, Jakob received his B.A. at the University of Manitoba, in his hometown of Winnipeg, MB, studying Political Studies and Economics. Jakob was heavily involved on campus and served as President of the University of Manitoba Student Union (UMSU) for two years. In that role, Jakob developed a passion for policy he maintains in his work today and spearheaded lobbying efforts at all levels of government, including a term as Vice-President of the federal advocacy organization Undergraduates of Canadian Research Universities (UCRU). While on UMSU, Jakob developed an appreciation for labour relations and governance, serving as management within the organization, and working alongside the University Administration and Faculty Association on various University governing bodies and committees, including the Board of Governors.

In his free time, Jakob maintains a podcast and substack about fantasy football. He also loves attending concerts, playing beach volleyball, the Boston Celtics, and Karaoke.
