January 1, 2016, marks the compliance deadline for a host of new obligations imposed by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (“AODA”). All private sector organizations in Ontario need to turn their minds to ensuring compliance, or risk facing hefty fines and other sanctions. Upcoming requirements include:

  • Establishing processes for preparing documented individual accommodation plans
  • Updating recruitment, performance management, career advancement and other processes to account for accessibility needs
